Huipil Map

In 2020, I thrifted a huipil in Santa Fe. I catalogued each stitch as exactly as possible into a grid as a reference. I saw myself as a translator of sorts, documenting a craft in a way that it could be replicated across different mediums. I took as few artistic liberties as possible by carefully charting the stitches and keeping the color palette as true as possible to the original.
